With the trees I built it wasn't appropriate for them to be used in the model so I used paint effects and converted them to polygons at 5,000 each which was more usable.

modelling trees



I Modelled some trees but they were 50,000 polygons way to big for my scene as I need alot of them so they turned out to be a bit of modelling practice. I'm going to save it for future projects

New Grass



The new grass is made from textures because of the render time being so high, quite happy with the out come also theres a bump map.

Creating The Grass (Maya Fur)



First I tried to create the grass using maya fur which looked really nice but was crazy to render taking over an hour to render one frame and I couldnt get it to scale with the rest of the things, I didnt have time to waste with that.

Creation of the floor




The floor was created usng a scene grab from google maps and I traced the pathways onto a plane then divided into quads.

Idea Change

The idea to make the eiffel tower in the 1940's has been change, I'm going to base the tower in present day, there are more references to research from like google earth and street view, also the scale of the area of paris is not going to be as big as I perviously planned, it would take to long, so I'm going to concentrate on just the park area at the base of the tower.

Eiffel Tower - Model (In Progress)



From the inital plan of building landmarks, here is the Eiffel Tower (so far), from my first glance it looked like it was going well until I realised the bottom was build incorrectly with the underneath connecting up in the middle which it shouldn't, so its a good thing that I built it in sections so I don't have to delete the whole thing (I had a feeling that this might happen, so I'm glad that I did it this way. Also it would be easier to texture in sections because of the amount of detail.)

Idea

My idea is to build a part of Paris as my environment, mainly the area where the eiffel tower is and if I can, base it in the 1940's, my idea came from my original idea to build world landmarks eg. eiffel tower in paris, coliseum in rome and others like big ben in london.

So I started to build the eiffel tower and then I liked the idea of building the area around the eiffel tower, so thats what im going to do. The time change idea was just to change it from the paris of today, so I picked a time when paris would be different and that was the 40's (world war 2).

Inital Plan

Career - I would like to be a environment modeller avoiding character modelling at all costs, I chose modelling because so far its the only thing I enjoy doing.

Skills - To be able to create greatly detailed models to the best of my ability, so eventually I am able to create models that can be used in games or even films.

Software - My chosen software will be maya, I dont think I need to use anything else, Most likely I will use after effects for the editing of the showreel

A body of the cartoon man, found this more easier than the head modelling, it wasn't that difficult.

Hand Modelling



My model of a hand in maya, first attempt has a few problems on the fingers where they bend, and where the fingers connect to the hand it doesn't look right.
